"Shelter, sheltering" v.3
This hand-colored art print is a unique version of my original work on paper.
My Shelter, Sheltering series explores the feelings of warmth, gratitude and belonging that we can experience from connection. The figures are purposefully ambiguous humans, who also represent a personification of the Earth - our mother and our home. I think a lot about how we’ve become increasingly disconnected from the Earth, from each other, and from ourselves in our modern society. I know that I’m not the only one to feel the weight of this loss.
This artwork celebrates connection — our connection with this glorious planet that gives us life, whose soils hold us and sustain us… and also our nurturing connections to one another, in all their messiness and beautiful complexity. It explores the vast but simple grounding of unconditional love, and how the wellbeing of Earth is not separate from the wellbeing of you, or of me.
