I'm installing my mural this week at the Westin Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA, for Bill's Bar & Burger. The mural is 5' x 17' and there will be an antique mirror installed across the middle of the work, dividing it into two sections. The top section is a bright and playful surreal landscape; the bottom panel zooms in on this landscape to reveal the details of this alien world - full of swirling spacecrafts, UFOs, satellite towers, digital bits and power cords, rovers and rainbows... There will be booth seating installed below the work - two large half-circle booths in dark brown tufted vinyl.
I just finished this 5ft x 10ft dinosaur mural commissioned for a playroom -- complete with T-Rex battling Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurs feasting on tall vegetation, Triceratops, Spinosaurus catching a tasty meal, a Pterodactyl family, volcanoes, a duck-billed Dino Mom feeding her young, and a mysterious Loch Ness-type water dino... Guided by the incredibly particular vision of my five-year-old patron and art critic, Alex. What a pleasure it was to turn his imagination into an engulfing environment, hoping to inspire him and his friends for years to come!
The gray strip in the middle will be a long mirror. Underneath the mirror, I'm going to create a playful alien landscape with tons of details and things to discover. Since that part is at eye-level with the viewer, I want it to be really engaging and fun to look at. The top part is meant to draw the viewer in from far away. Overall, the colors are very cheerful and inviting. I'm so excited to get started!
I'm working with the amazingly talented photographer Jen Carver again, creating hand-painted backdrops for the next Jak&Peppar shoot in Las Vegas! Here are some images of the backdrop - a textured, rich black with patches of java brown, sap green and warm grays. I can't wait to see how they turn out with the models!
Also, I have a few shots of the backdrop and set design I did for the last project in Charleston, SC for the Jak&Peppar Spring 2015 clothing line (Right).
I'm displaying two of my paintings along with several other local artists at this awesome restaurant in East Liberty.
I'm going to be acting/drawing in a promotional video for Precision Therapeutics, produced by James Stranahan and Brian Cohen of Legion. I'll be drawing their logo, an abstract double helix, and the producers will add digital animation to make the drawing come alive as a narrator explains the goals of Precision Therapeutics. We begin shooting this Friday!
Thursday, June 12th will be my last day displaying at the Three Rivers Arts Festival down town. I will be bringing a few new paintings in and also some works on paper. My booth is open from noon to 8pm. All prices are negotiable. Come out and take in the great art and music - for free - if you haven't had a chance!

I was commissioned by the locally-owned restaurant Off the Hook to create a custom-made logo painting for their bar. Off the Hook - owned and operated by Glen & Lisa Hawley with executive chef John Dober - specializes in fresh fish, and was voted one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh for seafood, wine, and happy hour specials. Here are some shots of the process and the final product:
I'll be traveling to Charleston, SC to work on a photo shoot for the new Jak & Peppar clothing line, sister company of Mustard Pie Clothing. I'll be assisting photographer Jen Carver with set design and production. I'm really excited about this opportunity to travel and be a part of a professional photo shoot!
Come design and decorate your very own personality pouch! Each crocheted pouch is pre-made, so students get to choose their pouch and decorate it however they wish. Learn basic sewing techniques and stitches including appliqué, beadwork, patchwork, sewing on buttons, and (for more advanced students) zippers. There will be a huge array of fun and funky things to choose from, so each pouch will be totally unique!
Each student can draw their own appliqué design - they can add their artwork to their pouch!

Wild Things Juried Art Exhibition
Wild creatures. Wild urges. Wild colors. Wild movement. Wild Things cannot be controlled. Each exists under its own set of rules. They are barbarous, unrestrained entities that upset their surroundings. The art barely contained in the exhibition will capture your imagination and demand voice. The exhibition includes untamable 2D, 3D and kinetic artworks with unusual musicians and performance art at the opening reception.
Wild Things is juried by Cynthia Shaffer, a mixed media artist favoring bugs, bones and sea creatures to traditional art materials. The show will include a sampling of her work which can be seen at www.cynthia-shaffer.com.
I've just completed a large family tree group portrait drawing. It's graphite on Reeves BFK rag paper, 24" x 32". Contact me if you'd like to commission a portrait.
